So, 6 years ago, my older sister was getting ready to graduate from High School in Utah. My whole family was going, but I had a final exam on the day that they were leaving that I couldn't reschedule. So I wasn't going to be able to go. But then my angle of an aunt (seriously, she is) Cathy said that she had some meetings in Farmington, and if I wanted to go with her, then she could take me up to Utah the next day. So we were driving, and I only being 17, and never paying attention in the car, had no idea how to get to Utah. So we were talking, and talking, and talking. And just having a great time together, and then Cathy said, hmmmm I don't recognize this area. So we pulled off and went into a gas station...this gas station was closed and we had to beg them to let us in... and they said that we had arrived in Elsinore Utah (if you click on this link to the left you will see a map of where we ended up). It is a blink town, which means if you blink you miss it. So they said we could go all the way back to Greenriver and take the Exit that we missed to go to Salt Lake, or we could take a short cut through some country streets that he told us about. So despite the fact that we were already lost, we took the short cut, because it would take about 3 hours to get back to Greenriver, and then we'd have to go the rest of the way to my aunt's house. So we took the short cut, and by some miracle we arrived at our destination...5 hours later than we should have...
So this weekend we were going to Toucson Arizona because Cathy had some training to go to for work. So we went there, and this time Cathy was prepared. She bought a TomTom GPS, so that we wouldn't get lost, and if we did, we could get un-lost. So we were on our way back home, and hadn't been lost yet, and then the gas light came on. And after a few minutes, Cathy realized that the gas light had come on. So we pulled over on the side of the road at a rest stop. And we called her husband Devon, and told him what had happened. Then I realized that William's brother lives in the next town, so we called William, and got his brother's phone number, and then we called him, but he was in Albuquerque, so he called his roommate and he came and brought us gas. Then by the time that we got to the next town, we filled up, and we put 21.8 gallons of gas in the tank of her 22 gallon tank. It is a good thing that we stayed where we were.
So the solution is that she says that William needs to invent a GPS that says "GO GET GAS!" so that we remember to look and see if we are low.
We've decided that each time we go on a trip together we get a little smarter:)
